Emerging Research Leaders Award for C2E2 member Mohsen Sadatsafavi

C2E2 scientist, Mohsen Sadatsafavi, has been selected as one of the four winners of the nationwide Canadian Respiratory Research Network's Emerging Research Leaders Initiative (ERLI) award. ERLI was a peer-reviewed competition jointly administered by the Canadian Lung Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, providing $150,000 over three years to successful applicants. Dr. Sadatsafavi's application was to support his Respiratory Evaluation Sciences Program (http://resp.med.ubc.ca), with the specific objective of evaluating the excess costs and burden of comorbid conditions in chronic respiratory diseases.

The Canadian Respiratory Research Network (CRRN - http://respiratoryresearchnetwork.ca/) is the first national network for respiratory research, funded primarily by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in close partnership with the Canadian Lung Association and partners from the industry. The goals of the network are to bring together researchers across disciplines and research themes/pillars to work together in a coordinated fashion in order to improve understanding of the origins and progression of chronic airway diseases in Canada.
