Asif Raza Khowaja is the recipient of a Killam Doctoral Award.
Killam Doctoral Scholarships are the most prestigious awards available to graduate students at UBC. The scholarships are provided annually from the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies.
Asif, how does it feel to win this award?
It is such an honor for me to be a Killam Doctoral Scholar, and I am very grateful for the support. My spouse and children were able to join me for the Killam Laureates ceremony, which was held on campus October 20th, 2015. It was certainly a moment to cherish with family and celebrate achievements!
Asif Raza Khowaja is a UBC PhD student and trainee at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation (C2E2). Asif is a registered nurse (RN) with a MSc in Health Policy and Management from the Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. He has substantial experience in maternal and child health research in Pakistan, an excellent record of publications in peer reviewed journals and participation in international scientific meetings and conferences. Asif is currently mentored by Professor Craig Mitton at C2E2, and is working on a project evaluating the cost-effectiveness of community level interventions for pre-eclampsia in Pakistan.
