Congratulations! Dr. Mohsen Sadatsafavi and Dr. Lindsay Hedden receive MSFHR awards

Recently, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR) recognized the work of two C2E2 researchers, Dr. Mohsen Sadatsafavi and Dr. Lindsay Hedden.

Dr. Mohsen Sadatsafavi received a MSFHR Scholar Award for his research program entitled 'Respiratory Evaluation Sciences Program', which aims to build a framework for estimating the burden, and projecting the outcomes, of policies and interventions related to chronic respiratory diseases. An exemplary project in this program is the Evaluation Platform in COPD (EPIC), in which Dr. Sadatsafavi and the team use mathematical modeling techniques to predict the future burden of COPD under various policies dealing with diagnosis and disease management.

Dr. Lindsay Hedden received a MSFHR Trainee Award to support her work evaluating an evidence-based supportive care program for prostate cancer patients at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. Her research study will assess the costs and benefits of the six-module survivorship program in order to find areas where value could be increased. The program will serve as model for others across BC, so cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency findings now have the potential to create significant impacts going forward.
