A healthy diet is one of the few ubiquitous, modifiable risk factors for cancer. However, despite decades of research, establishing the exact effects of diet on cancer has proved challenging. My research aims to overcome challenges in the field through the use of population-level, representative data, and systems biology approaches. This presentation will summarize our work on nutrition with respect to cancer prevention, including risk modelling, and the application of metabolomics and metagenomics. After this presentation, attendees will be aware of the concepts and challenges in cancer prevention, be able to identify populations that may be at elevated risk of cancer, and opportunities for future action.
